Personal Styling & Shopping FAQ

FAQs

What if I want to skip the closet consultation and just start shopping?

Rachel will begin and end your styling experience wherever you choose. If you just want to shop together, she will create a focused buying list with you, then go straight to the racks.

How much money do I need to budget for shopping?

Rachel is equally comfortable with clients who prefer shopping at discount stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Burlington as with clients who shop primarily at Nordstrom, J.Crew, and Banana Republic. You set your budget and Rachel will help you make the most of it.

What age range do you work with?

Rachel shops for ALL AGES, including children, pre-teens, teenagers, and anyone from 20 – 100.

Do you travel?

Yes, Rachel absolutely travels. Travel time is considered billable hours.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Rachel accepts cash, check, or payment through Venmo at the end of the closet consultation, shopping, or styling appointment.

How long does the process take?

Each client’s experience is different. Some want a quick, hour-long discussion about their closet and image. Some want the full experience of closet consultation, shopping, and styling — each season, year after year. Rachel has been known to knock out an entire season’s wardrobe updates in one shopping trip, but of course there are variables in every equation. Whatever your need, and whatever your budget, Rachel will work efficiently by tailoring her services to fit you.

What if I forget to ask Rachel something during our consultation or appointment?

Rachel understands the amount of detail involved in planning and streamlining a wardrobe. Ideas will pop up after your appointment. Rachel offers follow-up email consultations free of charge to her clients. She can’t promise an immediate response, but will answer as quickly as she can.

I've seen photos of you, and your look is too funky for me. How can I trust that you're going to get a true sense of my personal style?

Personal styling is all about achieving looks you feel comfortable in, and that suit your life. Rachel has 10 years of experience dressing for all ages, lifestyles, and occasions. Her goal is to bring out your perfect look, NOT to make you look like her.

I have a fuller figure. Will you shop for me?

Absolutely! Women with fuller figures have a major lack of shopping options in Pittsburgh. Rachel believes in creativity and good tailoring. Her goal is to find designers that combine modern style with perfect cuts for your body, then guide you in putting together looks that make you feel confident, stunning, and fashionable. This may mean tweaking clothes we find, styling in a way that updates a piece, or exploring national or international designers online.

Do you work with men or just with women?

Rachel styles both men and women. She can create styles and wardrobes you’ll feel comfortable in no matter where you land on the spectrum of gender expression.
